Trying to Find Time to Make NEW Website

Hey everyone, happy Friday Morning.. For the last three months we have been trying to get a new website up and running, the problem is FINDING THE TIME to devote to this project... We have been going straight out with admissions work since mid January this year.. It has been a great year for us... We were not expecting to be doing admissions work until the end of July. The past few years this has been the case, but not this year... We can't wait to roll out the new site.. Our college and university work has taken us coast to coast, well I guess we can call Arizona the west coast... Since January we have taken close to a half million shots... It is going to be quite an undertaking to sort through all our files and pick which we should showcase on the site... We have spent the last few days at the US Coast Guard Academy shooting admissions work.. When we finished up today, I was kind of relieved, saying to myself, "yes, we have all of next week to get a chunk of our website done", well upon leaving I received two v/m's checking our availabilty for next week... So much for getting some time to revamp the site... Well, here is a couple of images from our shoot at the CGA, that I find interesting, hope you all do, also.. Have a wonderful weekend.... Food For Thought

Good friday morning everybody, here's a few detail shots that I think are pretty cool.. I don't know if anyone would ever put something like this in any admissions marketing materials, but let me tell you, IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE REAL THAN THIS..... Notice the Ramen Noodles, and other processed foods... This really screams college students... Let us know what you think... Long Day Today

Well, it's 11:30 pm and I really should be sleeping.. We have a shoot in Sleepy Hollow, NY in the morning... It is a good two and a half hour ride from here, and we have to be there for 7:30 am... Ouch.... After that we have to hustle down the West Side Highway to Lower Manhattan for an all day shoot for a major capital campaign piece.. Should be interesting, we'll be leaving before most Starbucks' open... There is a Starbucks on the way in Danbury, CT that is open 24 hrs... We frequent this location when shooting in the city.... Here's one from last week at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, NY... To see our entire online portfolio goto FJ GAYLOR Photography

Admissions Photography in The Summer

Good morning everyone, hope you had a great weekend. We were in beautiful western New York last week at St. Bonaventure University.. We were hired to do an admissions shoot during July! Not the easiest task ever, considering there were very few students on campus.. The only students on campus were the Orientation Leaders and the Basketball team.. We typically like to work while students are in session to really get the natural feel to what happens on campus.. This was a difficult shoot to make happen, but we were really able to pull it off and get the true sense of campus life, even without the luxury of having the real student body on campus... To make this shoot effective we decided to give the students a sense of "ownership" in the project. We accomplished this by letting THEM decide what THEY think prospective students would like to see portrayed in a viewbook.. So if anyone is thinking of doing a shoot in the next few weeks during an orientation session, feel free to give us a call and we can discuss how to effectively pull this off.. Viewbook Photography in July?

Well, we just finished up the first day of a three day admissions shoot in Western New York... Today, I think we got some great stuff, considering what we had to work with... The campus is absolutely dead... We had about a dozen kids for a less than two hour window, and thats all the students there were... The only kids on campus were the Orientation Leaders... Now let me ask everyone out there a question, What would make someone schedule an admissions photoshoot in the summer? The next two days could be brutal, trying to find students... I can't imagine what we are going to find on Friday, Fridays during the school year are dead, never mind Fridays in July... Anyway would love to heard from you on this issue.... Post Holiday Assignment

Good morning all, hope everyone had a great holiday weekend... Well, we had to cut our holiday short on Tuesday.. We had to hop in the car for an assignment in Olean, NY... Eight hours in a car can definitely wear on you... I know that we had a lot of rain the last couple of weeks, but driving on the Southern Tier Expressway in Western New York was devastating, there was flooding all over the place... I really feel for all the people displaced by the flooding... Well as I said earlier we are going to be on location the next three days up here in Olean, NY.... This is going to be a very challenging shoot... There are very few students available on campus at this particular summer session... There are going to be a few hundred incoming freshmen that we might have to use during their orientation to really pull this off.... We would love to hear what kinds of photo shoots you plan in the summertime if any? We would love to hear..
