Designers: TIF's or Hi Res JPG's

All you designers out there: Recently we have been asked by more than a few designers to deliver their final images to them as JPEG's as opposed to TIF's... I was always under the impression that TIF's were Superior to JPG's? But like I said more designers are requesting JPEG's ... Any thoughts on this? When dealing with the amount of images we have been dealing with in recent months, this is a huge difference for us.. On a recent two day shoot we delivered 26 DVD's, if they were delivered as JPEG's, (compression 12) it would be about 6 DVD's (huge difference).. We would love your thoughts on this...
